PFLAG is the United States' first and largest organization uniting parents, families, and allies with people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+). The acronym stands for Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays. PFLAG National is the national organization, which provides support to the PFLAG network of local chapters.[1] PFLAG has over 400 chapters across the United States, with more than 200,000 members and supporters.

Changes[]

  • Until 1993, the name was officially styled as "P-FLAG" until hyphen was removed.
  • Prior to 2014, the acronym stood for Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays
  • After 2014, PFLAG is no longer an acronym and is the official name of the organization.

  • Debbie Novotny is the head organizer of the entire PFLAG community as a very proud parent of her gay son, Michael Novotny.
  • Vic Grassi assisted his sister, Debbie, within PFLAG as a gay man himself, and proud uncle to gay nephew, Michael.
  • Jennifer Taylor starts assisting Debbie as one of the proud parents of her gay son, Justin Taylor.
